Macros what?? What is this everyone in fitness land keeps talking about? How do you count them?
Does it work? YES.
I'm not saying that counting everything you eat is easy... if it was easy, everyone would do it. But it does give you a good guide to follow. If you figure out what macros would best serve you, and follow them to a T, you will get the desired results you want, guaranteed. It's sort of an "idiots guide to dieting" lol
I'm not saying you have to do this for forever, but if does give you more knowledge about HOW you are eating now, and what you actually should be eating.
Macros break down into 3 parts:
-Protein>>
-Carbs >>> These 3 are what make up the calories we eat.
-Fat>>
Below I am including my favorite MacroCalculator. This makes it very easy (As long as you have your daily caloric goal in mind.
(To find this it's really depending on what you are trying to do. (lose weight, gain weight etc) I am currently doing a 1500 calorie goal. I want to stay lean, but I want to have enough to put on/keep the muscle I'm building. I'm 5'5, and 108 lbs currently.
The good thing is, you can you can adjust your macro percentages as you adjust your caloric daily goal; so if you start out at 1300 calories, lose some weight, and think you need to bump it up to build muscle- you can adjust accordingly.
I also like this site because it allows you to manually move sliders to personalize percentages even more! So if you want to up your protein a bit more and down your carbs, you can do that. Find what works for your body! Calculate here: http://macronutrientcalculator.com/
The percentage of how much we are eating in each category DOES effect us. It can either help us, or harm us. When I was first starting out, I was very interested but there was so much information out there it seemed very overwhelming..
