Reminder: Stay Open

“We are far more than the bodies we inhabit.

They're little more than clothes.. and yet we judge so much by them.

But when we generalize and judge people quickly without taking ample time, we've chosen a shortcut. It's superficial of us, and a shows only a lack of wisdom.

The only measure of judging a human being is through that person’s character, and character is not determined by race, appearance, religion, gender, or social status. One who recognizes this simple fact behaves the same with the scientist, the business man, the janitor, and the sex-worker.”

I’ve come to realize the most beautiful things rarely come in the most beautiful packages. If we look a little closer, we can see things more clearly. I’m grateful to be learning this early in my life. Appearances are almost always deceiving.

Meet Melvin, a very gentle human that we found just sitting alone enjoying the beautiful day yesterday. I’ve been trying to remain very open lately, trying to learn what the universe is giving me to learn. Melvin reminded me to take some time to enjoy the “micro moments” in life.

This is so important especially in today’s world of distractions and more more more.

Take some time away from your phone, while you’re on the way to wherever, talk to someone you wouldn’t normally.. stay open, they may surprise you.

Thank you Dewayne Jones with @interscopephotography for capturing this beautiful and real moment of openness yesterday.

(Melvin was compensated for his time)

Watch the Behind the Scenes video for the full story of the day!:

What a beautiful day. Started out with puppies, then met Melvin along our adventures and decided to make him part of our shoot, then ended with a bang. Big hair and fashion baby. Per usual Dewayne and I got on eachothers last dayum nerves- but in the best way. Lots of love there. Lots of love. Hashtag that's my photogbestfriend. lol

This day was a great and successful shoot day, but also a reminder to smile, stay open, and go with the flow. Life knows where to take you!
